Living Areas

The Living Areas. The home is a Dutch Colonial replica, full of old world character with a large center hall and a very wide staircase leading up to the bedrooms and two other large staircases, one leading down to the Hangout Room and another leading even deeper down into the amazing wine cellar. The tile work throughout is fantastic and so is the recessed lighting.

We have a great and very spacious family room with a real fireplace, and a big screen HD TV over the mantle. Like the media room this TV has an incorporated Blue Ray player, and is connected to Internet, Netflix, etc. Very comfortable and relaxed, it opens to the kitchen, the Lanai, and connects to the library. Huge passageways make the family room, the kitchen and Lanai feel like one huge single room. Although we were very careful to preserve the home's rich character, the place is full of technology: there are several Wi-Fi networks allowing for high speed streaming anywhere on the property, a hidden printer/fax/scanner/copier etc. and much more.

Our library is a bit more formal. We have a collection of very old books, and some racing memorabilia. It's a large room; a great place to relax and read a book on the large two person chaise lounge, play a game of chess, or just watch the kids play on the huge open floor.

Another great feature of the home is the very wide passageways, feeling more like an open plan modern home but preserving the Colonial feel and character that makes these homes so charming. In the built in cabinetry of the library there are games and books, and other wonderful things. The colors are so gentle and blend together so well so that even the walls are eye candy.

Besides the breakfast nook and the banquet room we have a formal dining room just off the main kitchen through the butler’s pantry. It can sit eight to ten comfortably and is adorned with special things such as the beautiful blue crystal chandelier. The dining room cabinetry and all the kitchens and pantries are full of fine dishes, utensils, crystal, etc. This is a cheery room with wonderful big windows that overlook the playground... very country!

Our butler's pantry connects the kitchen to the dining room. It features a handmade copper sink and faucet, special lighting and decorations. In the drawers you will find sushi sets, caviar plates mother of pearl spoons and alike. It's a nice place to stage things like extra bread and wine for the feast, and it adds to the wonderful Country Estate feel.

There are of course many utilitarian rooms and areas throughout the home. For example, if you need to dry some towels we have two great washer and dryer rooms on two floors. One is located just off the pool so you can drop wet towels right into the machine. There are also several pantries, many closets and other useful living areas inside.
